The South Haven Light is similar to the one at St. Joseph as it is located at the end of a concrete pier. The light was originally constructed in 1872 and rebuilt shortly after the turn of the century. It is a round red steel structure and is topped with a black parapet. When waves wash the pier, workers can still reach the light by using a catwalk that extends from shore to the second story of the structure.
The light is a favorite among photographers especially when the sun sets. South Haven is slowly becoming a tourist mecca with wonderful shops and eating establishments.
