The Bete Grise or Mendota Lighthouse is now a private residence on the shore of the Mendota Ship Canal, which connects Lac LaBelle to Keweenaw Bay. The house is a pale yellow two story dwelling with brown trim. The attached tower is also painted yellow. The parapet rises just above the roof line, but the latern room is now empty. You may view the light from across the canal.

DIRECTIONS:
From US-41 approximately one mile east of Delaware, turn south onto the road to Lac LaBelle. Go 4.5 miles to Lac LaBelle, then turn left and follow the main road (turn sharply south at Bete Grise) about 4.5 miles to its end, at the Mendota Ship Canal. From there you can see and take pictures of the lighthouse which is across the canal.
