Big Bay is one of the most beautiful on the Great Lakes. Its view from atop a bluff nearly 100 feet above the waves of lake Superior.
Big Bay Lighthouse is one of only two lighthouses in Michigan that operates as a bed and breakfast inn. The other light is Sand Hills Lighthouse.

The lighthouse is in excellent condition. It is a large dwelling, made of red brick with limestone reinforcements at the corners and above the first story windows.A small automated Coast Guard beacon in the yard nearby is now used as the navigational aid. The light's original Fresnel lens is on display in the old fog whistle building.

DIRECTIONS:
From Wright St. on the north edge of Northern Michigan University in Marquette, turn north onto Sugar Loaf Ave., which turns into County Rd. 550, and go about 25 miles to Big Bay. Follow CR-550 to the north end of Big Bay, then turn right (east) onto Dam Road. Follow Dam Road approximately 2 miles to a "T" intersection. Turn left (north) onto Lighthouse Road and go about a mile to the lighthouse. The Big Bay Lighthouse is a private residence that is run as a bed and breakfast.
